Here's how to create a TV ad with Sony Vegas in MPEG2 format:
- Open your video in Sony Vegas.
- Before exporting your sequence, set
your workspace to the correct ad duration (15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, or
120 seconds) in your timeline by highlighting the portion of the
sequence you wish to export. You can set your "in" and "out" by
adjusting the yellow tab in the top corners of your highlighted
sequence.
- Adjusting the yellow tabs also selects
the portion of sequence you want to export. Then, ensure the correct
spot duration by double-clicking the clock in the bottom right-hand
corner and editing the time.
- Once you've set the correct duration and are ready to export your sequence, keep your sequence highlighted. Go to File > Render As.
- The Render As dialog appears. In the "Save as type" drop-down, select MainConcept MPEG-2 (*.mpg, *.m2v, *.m2t, *.mda). For Sony Vegas, only MPEG-2 files will successfully pass through our technical requirements check.
- Click the Custom button on the right. This opens the Custom Template dialog with various tabs at the bottom.
- Name your template. In this example, we're using "Google TV Ads MPEG2 PS/TS."
- Click the following links to see the settings you should use on each tab in the Custom Template dialog.
